Curefest for Childhood Cancer, D.C.

When I was twelve years old, I lost my best friend, Delaney Clements, to pediatric cancer. Ever since her passing in 2016, I have made it one of my missions in life to continue advocating for children fighting cancer. Each year, I speak and perform at Curefest on the National Mall, in hopes of raising more awareness and more funding for pediatric cancer.

Post-Treatment Body Positivity Shoot

Photographed by Mike Gilette

Throughout my journey battling Lupus, I have endured countless invasive treatments, from various chemotherapies to high doses of steroids. These medications have saved my life, but also came with severe side effects -- hair loss, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, weight gain, and severe stretch marks. The purpose of this photoshoot was to shed light on the toll that treatment took on my body. I hope that it helps people to realize that all bodies are beautiful bodies. My body has carried me through so much, and I am proud of all of her dips, curves, marks, and scars.

My Blog: Ellie's Life With Lupus

After being diagnosed with Lupus, I decided to start a blog to help educate others about what life is like living with a chronic illness. Overtime, my blog, entitled Ellie's Life With Lupus, grew, and I was inspired to start my own non-profit organization, Ellie Rose Strong. Since the launch of my organization at the start of 2021, I have sold hundreds of T-shirts (designed by me), and I have raised over $9000 to go towards finding safer and more effective treatment options for kids fighting Lupus, and diseases like it.

The Strong Project

For a long time, I was in search of a way to honor all of my fellow fighters, as well as a way of educating others about various life challenges. This past year, through my organization, Ellie Rose Strong, I founded "The Strong Project"! Every month, I feature a new strong individual on my website, and I share a little bit about their journey. Each individual has a shirt inspired by them that is available for purchase. 100% of all proceeds from the shirts goes towards the charity of the individual’s choice. See three examples below:

"No Child Should Have to Grow Up On Chemo"

50% of proceeds from this T-shirt will be donated to TheTruth365 (a non-profit childhood cancer organization), and 50% of proceeds will be donated the Lupus Foundation of America to help find cures for both Lupus and cancer.
